This 450 seat, 22,000
square-foot auditorium is "the envy of the towns five times our
size," said the theater's first president in 1976. This modern
stage performance hall stages four major productions a year, in
addition to independent acting and musical groups that offer
fantastic entertainment throughout the year. With 10,000
costumes on hand and two theatrical troops, you are sure to enjoy a
fantastic production!

Originally
built as an Opera House in 1893, the big screen at this movie
theater always has the newest movies. With seating for 435 and
the original architecture and style of the Opera House, catching a
movie at the theater makes for an awesome experience. Over
winter and summer vacations, the theater, in cooperation with local
merchants, offers free family movies as a special treat! The

Washington's Municipal Band fills the town square with music every
Thursday evening June-August at 8 pm at the bandstand in Central
Park in downtown Washington. A tradition since 1932.
Don't miss
the Brinton Film Fest at the Ainsworth Opera House the last Friday
and Saturday in July. You'll see films from the 1890's - the
oldest in the world. In fact, the Smithsonian has mad copies
of the films that are the property of this opera house.
Ainsworth Opera House hosts the Red Cedar Chamber Music
Group's Rural Outreach Concerts. This program brings
high-quality chamber music to rural audiences in the comfort of
their own environment. The Nativity Display at the Opera
House is the largest in the world! You can see this exhibit
the first two weekends in December.
