Water Service/Garbage & Recycling
Sign up at the *City Hall,
(319/653-6584). If you are buying a home, you only need
to give your name and address. If you rent, a $75
deposit will be required. This deposit is refundable if
you become a homeowner (after paying the final bill at
the previous residence) or when you move out of town
(you will need to pay the final bill at the previous
residence and then the deposit will be mailed to you).
Request for service should be made in person. At the
same time, you can also find out which day the garbage
and recycling collection occurs.
Gas & Electric
*Alliant Energy provides gas & electric service to Washington residents. Request for service must be made by
phone to a 24-hour number (1-800-822-4348). A deposit may be required. All deposits are refundable, with interest, after
one year of timely payments of your utility bill.
